Pack light for your honeymoon or you could end up paying more!
That’s the message United Airlines and U.S. Airways is giving their customers, with announcements they will charge extra for checking a second piece of luggage beginning in early May 2008.
According to an article in Corporate Meetings and Incentives, passengers that book non-refundable tickets on United will be faced with a $50 fee if they check a second piece of luggage. If you are flying internationally or if you a member of United’s top tier frequent-flyer program, you will not be charged this fee.
U.S. Airways has a similar policy starting in May, but their fee extends to international travel as well.
One nice exception: Both airlines stated that they will not charge this fee to active military personnel and unaccompanied minors.
